Pyton
In 1985, Dag Kolstad, Terje Nordberg and Petter Engbo left SEMIC Nordic publishing house to start the comics publisher Gevion. As a natural continuation of and competitor to Norsk MAD, Gevion published the first issue of Pyton at Easter 1986. Tommy Sydsæter, Frode Øverli and I followed to the newly established publisher, continuing the collaboration with Dag Kolstad - the editor of what became the monthly humour magazine Pyton.
Then followed ten years in a close, collegial environment around Dag. The Editor (with a capital E) served as a pater familias and mentor in humour and respect for deadlines. Under the pen name Dick Kolby, he wrote scripts for me (whom he called Arnold Milten), and gave me the ideas for the Pyton covers. My childhood friend Tormod Løkling (Termos Løkring) was also a scriptwriter, not least on all our Bottolf Nerd stories. In time, Pyton was also published in Sweden and Denmark under the name Pyton, and in Finland under the resonant Finnish word for poison - Myrkky. Back home, Dag Kolstad concluded his editorship at Pyton in 1995, and I too felt that it was time to move on.
